As a valued customer, you can even benefit from our partnership with Alarm Relay, a Certified Alarm Monitoring Central Station, which provides 24 hour monitoring for the incredibly low price of $8. 95 per monthIt’s tempting to put the price tag as your top priority, but look for the right equipment first, and the right price will appear. All of our favorite home security systems have different tiers of services and prices, each with their own set of advantages and disadvantages. You can find a great home security system on a budget, but you shouldn’t compromise safety while doing it. When looking at your budget, prices boil down to a set of one time and regular fees. Most security systems require a monthly payment for monitoring and a one time payment for the equipment. You can find systems without a monthly fee like Nest Secure that allow you to monitor your own home, but the initial cost is steeper. Research security system options. Although it would be difficult to design and produce your own security system and successfully market it, there are companies who can sell you a private label security system you can market under your company’s name. However, as there are many leaders already in the home security business who have a good track record, it would be smart to simply become a dealer in the security systems already available. Many of these established businesses provide franchise opportunities that you can take advantage of.

Aside from overall daytime video quality, we also looked at each camera's picture clarity. Predictably, higher resolution cameras yielded the best results in this test, with 1080p cameras showing greater detail than 720p models. The Flir FX, D Link DCS 2630L and Netgear Arlo Q had the clearest video among 1080p cameras, while the Belkin NetCam HD+ was the best among 720p cameras. We concluded testing by evaluating how well each camera handled motion. The D Link DCS 2630L and the Netgear Arlo Q recorded movement well, while the other cameras had at least some lag and image distortion. Internet speed can affect lag, so motion is often worse on live video feeds, while recordings have fewer problems than live streams. Nighttime videos use infrared light instead of visible light, so they don't match the color or detail of daytime videos. Therefore, we assessed the brightness of the nighttime picture instead, with brighter video producing more detail. The top nighttime security camera was the Belkin NetCam HD+, which illuminated our room better than other cameras. AudioOur audio tests took a simple approach:we listened for loud, understandable audio. Some cameras were loud but the audio was distorted, while others cameras lacked distortion but were too quiet, making it harder to hear activity.
